Hebrew Language Day (Hebrew: יום השפה העברית, or יום הלשון העברית) is an Israeli national holiday celebrated annually on the 21st of the Hebrew month of Tevet, the birthday of Eliezer Ben-Yehuda, the “reviver” of the Hebrew language. If the 21st of Tevet occurs on Friday or Saturday (Shabbat), the day is instead observed on the preceding Thursday.
